NearUNow is operated by HiSpeed Wireless Broadband Ltd, a company registered in Ireland, with its registered address at Unit 25, Waterford Business Park, Cork Road, Waterford, Ireland ("we", "us", or "our").
NearUNow is a trading name of HiSpeed Wireless Broadband Ltd, registered at Unit 25, Waterford Business Park, Cork Road, Waterford, Ireland.
We are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the Data Protection Acts 1988–2018 as applicable in Ireland.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the NearUNow mobile application and website (nearunow.ie), how we use it, and your rights regarding it. NearUNow is currently free to use.
1. Who We Are (Data Controller)
HiSpeed Wireless Broadband Ltd
Unit 25, Waterford Business Park, Cork Road, Waterford, Ireland
Email: info@nearunow.ie
Website: https://nearunow.ie
2. What Data We Collect
2.1 Customer Users (App)
- Email address — collected when you create an account, used for authentication and to send booking confirmations.
- Location data — your GPS coordinates, collected while using the app, to show nearby appointment slots within your chosen radius (default 8 km) and to attach a location to any requests you post. Your location is also stored with your push-notification token so we can send relevant nearby-slot alerts.
- Booking data — when you book an appointment through the app, we record the slot you booked (service, business, date/time) to confirm the booking with the business.
- "Post what you need" requests — if you post a request, we collect the description you enter (max 200 characters), the service category, your preferred timeframe (today/tomorrow/this week), and your location. Requests are visible to nearby businesses and expire automatically.
- Push-notification token — if you grant notification permission, your device push token and approximate location are stored so we can notify you of nearby slots matching your interests.
- Device information — device type, operating system, and an anonymous device identifier used to count how many people have seen a particular slot (impression tracking). This identifier is not linked to your identity.
You can browse available slots without creating an account. In that case, only location data and device information (as described above) are collected.
2.2 Business Users (App)
- Name — the name of the business owner or account holder.
- Email address — used for account creation and authentication.
- Phone number — stored on your business profile and may be displayed to customers to facilitate contact.
- Business details — business name, service categories (hair, beauty, massage), and town/location.
- Location (latitude & longitude) — used to place your business in proximity searches so nearby customers can find your slots.
- Appointment slot data — the service, date, time, price, and optional photo of availability slots you post. Slots are automatically hidden after 72 hours.
- Saved services — if you save service templates (name and price) for quick-posting, these are stored on your profile.
- Profile photo — if you upload a business avatar, the image is stored in our file storage.
2.3 Website Visitors (Waitlist)
- Email address — if you sign up for the launch waitlist on nearunow.ie, your email address is collected via a form powered by Formspree (a US-based form-processing service). Your email is used solely to notify you when NearUNow launches.
- Business indicator — if you tick the optional "I own a salon, barbers or beauty business" checkbox, that preference is recorded alongside your email.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use collected data for the following purposes:
- To provide the core NearUNow service — showing customers nearby available slots, enabling businesses to post availability, and facilitating bookings through the app.
- To authenticate user accounts securely (both customer and business).
- To process and confirm bookings between customers and businesses.
- To display customer requests ("post what you need") to nearby businesses so they can respond with available slots.
- To calculate distances between customers and available slots.
- To send push notifications about nearby slots (only if you explicitly grant notification permission on your device).
- To count slot impressions (how many people have seen a slot) and provide this metric to businesses. This tracking is anonymous and uses device identifiers not linked to your identity.
- To notify waitlist subscribers when NearUNow launches.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the app and our services.
- To comply with our legal obligations under Irish and EU law.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising, behavioural tracking, or profiling.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
- Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)) — processing your account data and booking data is necessary to provide the NearUNow service you have signed up for.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — using location data and device information to improve app functionality, security, and anonymous impression tracking.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — push notifications are only sent where you have explicitly granted permission. Waitlist sign-up is voluntary. You may withdraw consent at any time in your device settings or by contacting us.
5. Data Storage and Security
App data is stored securely using Supabase, a third-party backend-as-a-service platform. Supabase stores data on servers located within the European Economic Area (EEA). Data is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest.
Waitlist sign-ups submitted through the website are processed by Formspree, Inc., a US-based service. This constitutes an international data transfer outside the EEA. Formspree processes data in accordance with applicable data-protection frameworks. By submitting the waitlist form, you consent to this transfer. Your email is used solely to notify you of the NearUNow launch and is not shared with any other party.
Slot photos uploaded by businesses are stored in Supabase Storage (EEA). Images are compressed and resized before upload.
We implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure, including row-level security policies on all database tables. For more information on Supabase's data practices, see supabase.com/privacy.
6. Data Retention
- Appointment slots — automatically hidden after 72 hours and marked inactive after the slot time has passed.
- Customer requests ("post what you need") — automatically expire after the specified timeframe (8 hours for "today", 24 hours for "tomorrow").
- Booking data — retained for as long as needed to confirm and record the appointment, then retained in anonymised form for service-improvement purposes.
- Business account data — retained for as long as the account is active. Upon account deletion, your personal data is removed within 30 days, except where required by law. Slots are deactivated (not permanently deleted) for audit purposes.
- Customer account data — retained for as long as the account is active. You may delete your account at any time through the app or by contacting us.
- Push-notification tokens — retained while active and updated on each app session. Tokens are deleted when an account is deleted.
- Impression data — anonymous device-level impression counts are retained indefinitely for analytics purposes. They contain no personally identifiable information.
- Waitlist emails — retained until the launch notification is sent, then deleted unless you have separately created an app account.
7. Sharing of Data
We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Supabase (infrastructure provider) — your app data is stored and processed on Supabase infrastructure within the EEA, as described above.
- Formspree (waitlist form processor) — waitlist email addresses submitted on the website are processed by Formspree, Inc. (US). Formspree delivers form submissions to our inbox and does not use your data for any other purpose.
- Apple / Google (push notifications) — device push tokens are shared with Apple APNs and Google FCM solely for delivering notifications you have opted in to.
- Legal obligations — we may disclose data to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or request from a competent authority.
Business contact details (name and phone number) may be displayed to customers within the app to facilitate bookings. Customer request descriptions and locations are displayed to nearby businesses to enable them to respond with available slots.
8. Your Rights Under GDPR
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Restriction — ask us to restrict how we process your data.
- Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@nearunow.ie. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (DPC), Ireland's supervisory authority: www.dataprotection.ie.
9. Cookies and Tracking
The NearUNow mobile app does not use cookies. The NearUNow website may use essential cookies required for basic site functionality. No third-party advertising or tracking cookies are used. The waitlist form is processed by Formspree; see their privacy policy for details on any cookies they may set.
10. Children's Privacy
NearUNow is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at info@nearunow.ie.
11. International Data Transfers
App data is stored within the EEA (via Supabase). Waitlist data submitted through the website is processed by Formspree, Inc., based in the United States. By submitting the waitlist form, you consent to this transfer. We take reasonable steps to ensure that any international transfer is conducted in compliance with GDPR requirements.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Registered users will be notified of material changes via email or an in-app notification. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of NearUNow after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
